Re: COVID-19
As you know, Governor Mike Dewine declared a state of emergency in Ohio to protect Ohioans from the effects of COVID-19. We know that many of our clients are financially impacted by these pandemic mandates. Cincinnati Benefit Solutions is closely monitoring all new developments issued by our government and health authorities so that we can provide information to our clients that will assist them during this very challenging time. Here are two important updates regarding the group medical plan that have recently been issued.
- Insurance companies are relaxing the actively at work requirement in the policy. This will allow employees who are laid-off of work to remain on the group plan and continue their coverage. The employer will be billed for their premium.
- On Friday, Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced that the premiums for this coverage could be deferred for up to 60 days. This does not mean that they will be waived. We recommend that if you are able to pay the premium to do so because this will avoid any back billing in the future.
Cincinnati Benefit Solutions is working diligently with each of the carriers for their guidelines on how these changes will be handled administratively. We will find the answers to these questions as quickly as possible and update you on a timely basis.
At the present time, our office is fully staffed and here to serve your needs. In the event where we would have to close the office, our staff is equipped to work remotely so our level of service remains high and uninterrupted during that time.
